I'm a person who enjoys a little bit of Jewelry. I don't have a lot, but what I wear is all I own and it means a lot to me. I have my promise ring, my engagement ring and a pink sapphire ring from my mother that I like to keep looking shiny and brand new.
So in today's blog, I'm going to give you an easy way to clean your jewelry with what you have at home with these easy tips.
Items you will need for this:
- Lint-Free Paper Towel/Cloth
- A Tooth Brush
- Dish soap (I find Dawn dish soap works well)
- A Cup
- Water
That's it. Yes, you read that right. That's all the stuff you need. Pretty cheap right?
Let's get started shall we! :D
Step 1: Grab A Spare Tooth Brush & Some Dish Soap.

If you have an extra toothbrush in the house, this will make for a great tool to clean your piece of jewelry. The tooth brush will be able to help you get into those small places without damaging anything on the piece of jewelry being washed. By the way, I don't recommend trying to clean jewelry that you think may be too old and delicate as cleaning this way may cause damage.
The Dish soap is the other hero in this formula. It will definitely aid you into getting all of that oil/dirt out of those tiny crevices as it's naturally supposed to help fight grease and build up anyways.
Step 2: Cleaning Your Ring/Jewelry With The Soapy Wet Tooth Brush.

Take the piece of jewelry you wish to clean and start scrubbing it with the tooth brush and dish soap. You will want to make sure to clean in and around all the crevices as that's where a lot of the oils/dirt like to get comfy. I usually like to scrub and rinse the ring about 2-3 times to make sure I get everything nice and clean, but it's up to you on how many times you'd like to wash your piece of jewelry.
Step 3: Place The Ring/Jewelry In A Cup of Warm Water.

After you're finished with scrubbing your ring/jewelry, you will then place the jewelry in a cup of warm water for about 5-10 minutes.
I like to sit my rings in cold water afterwards for about 2-3 min as well, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to. I just find it helps add to the "shiny" finish afterwards.
Step 4: Let It Air Dry On A Lint-Free Paper Towel or Cloth.

When the rings/jewelry are done sitting in the water, place it on the lint-free paper towel or cloth to air dry.
I usually give it about 10 minutes or so to dry but I will sometimes dab the ring band down with the towel to help take any excess water off, especially if I'm watching the time.
Step 5: Wear The Ring/Jewelry.

Your ring or piece of jewelry should now be nice and clean and shiny.
The dish soap is a great way to clean that favorite piece of jewelry without using any chemically infused cleaners and will also save you from spending any money or time that it would cost for a trip to the jewelers.
